In October 2021, a succession of failures in one of the power plant’s reactors led to the first nuclear accident in France. Following massive radioactive fallout, the population was evacuated and the zone was closed to the public. Eight months later, while the authorities already want to turn the page, residents, evacuees, scientists, journalists, and workers in the nuclear industry shed light on this plausible accident scenario and on this possible future.
Retour à la Normale is an anticipatory documentary that lets us imagine what the consequences of such a tragedy would be on our lives, and questions us about the civilization that nuclear energy is in the process of shaping.
